INTRODUCTION
The Gulf Islands of British Columbia are sometimes called “The Martha’s Vineyard of the West Coast” and “Canada’s Caribbean”. This is an area of extraordinary natural beauty, sheltered in the Georgia Strait, between the mainland of British Columbia and the 300-mile long Vancouver Island.

The largest concentration of population and amenities on the island is Ganges. There are two shopping areas, one by the ocean, a second just a few blocks away. Three other small centers offer stores and restaurants: Fulford in Fulford Harbour to the south, Vesuvius near Vesuvius Bay to the west and Fernwood on the east coast. Fulford, in particular, has a charming and 'funky' character and includes several interesting stores and cafés.
